About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide a first-hand look at pharmacy operations, including time spent with district leaders and exposure to store, district, and regional workflows. This role focuses on supporting the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and patient needs are met with care and accuracy.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off to ensure safe prescription fulfillment.
- Assist the pharmacy team in delivering service that meets and exceeds patient expectations.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify information as required by state regulations.
- Demonstrate empathy and genuine care during all patient and colleague interactions.
- Maintain pharmacy safety and compliance by following company standard operating procedures and ethical principles.
- Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts, processing returns, and managing medication deliveries.
- Support immunization services by educating patients, documenting information, and monitoring for adverse reactions where permissible by law.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or active progress toward obtaining, a valid intern or technician license.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain focus while multitasking.
- Willingness to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market to meet business needs.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication to effectively interact with patients and team members.
