About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will transition your academic learning into a clinical setting to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. You will work under the direction of a preceptor and District Leader to complete a training roadmap within 120 days of graduation. This role focuses on deepening your knowledge of pharmacy operations, patient safety, and professional standards including drug utilization review and red flag detection.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations to ensure prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
- Follow standard operating procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service to patients, including offering immunizations, answering medical questions, and resolving patient problems under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Communicate with prescribers to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes where permitted by state regulation.
- Perform inventory tasks such as cycle counts, processing deliveries, and managing returns.
- Support immunization services by educating patients, obtaining informed consent, and monitoring for adverse reactions if you hold Technician Immunizer status.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members as your readiness increases.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to starting the program.
- Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state guidelines.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in mathematical reasoning to calculate dosages and day supplies.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks like typing and reaching.
