About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This role focuses on developing your professional skills in preparation for a future Pharmacist position. You will gain hands-on experience through a comprehensive training roadmap that includes Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) and exposure to store, district, and regional operations.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly, including workflow at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Provide caring service that exceeds patient expectations and contribute to a safe, inclusive team culture.
- Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to help manage and improve patient health.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and call to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes as allowed by state regulation.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory, including medication deliveries, cycle counts, and returns-to-stock.
- Support patient health services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law and supported by required training.
What you'll need#
- Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Capability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Strong attention to detail to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, reach, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.
