About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. This role is a part-time, paid position focused on preparing you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures across workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, addressing medical questions, and assisting with immunizations where permitted.
- Maintain self-awareness and provide in-the-moment coaching to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and relevant laws to ensure patient safety and privacy.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
- Strong mathematical skills to solve problems, such as determining prescription dosages.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods and pivot quickly between responsibilities.
- Capacity to perform physical requirements, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 20 lbs, and repetitive hand movements.
