About the role#
This is a PRN Clinical Pharmacist-Intern position based in Peridot, Arizona. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist with at least one year of experience to handle a variety of pharmacy tasks. This role involves direct patient care, medication management, and active participation in hospital operations.
What you'll do#
- Select, compound, and dispense medications according to provider prescriptions and regulatory standards.
- Review patient charts to assess drug allergies, interactions, contraindications, and overall medication therapy.
- Perform medication reconciliation and provide patient counseling.
- Prepare sterile and non-sterile products, ensuring proper handling and storage.
- Administer immunizations, vaccines, and emergency medications within your scope of practice.
- Stock and maintain automated dispensing machines.
- Attend clinical rounds and respond to emergency situations as needed.
- Provide pharmacotherapy recommendations to nursing staff and providers.
- Conduct medication room inspections and maintain inventory records for controlled and non-controlled substances.
- Assist with pharmacy technician and clerk functions when required.
- Participate in hospital committees and quality assurance programs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in good standing in an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program, or graduation from an accredited US PharmD program within the last year.
- A current, active, and unrestricted Arizona Pharmacist Intern license.
- Licensure to administer immunizations, vaccines, and emergency medications.
- Ability to obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
