About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic knowledge to real-world practice while preparing for a future role as a Pharmacist. Working under the direction of a preceptor, you will gain hands-on experience through a comprehensive training roadmap that covers pharmacy operations at the store, district, and regional levels. This role focuses on developing your clinical and technical skills to support the pharmacy team in delivering safe and effective patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including key learning experiences and activities.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure smooth, efficient operations.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off, to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, addressing patient needs, and providing caring service.
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies regarding patient safety, privacy, and controlled substance dispensing.
- Maintain professional standards and contribute to a safe, inclusive team environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern and/or technician licensure.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention and focus to concentrate on tasks and maintain accuracy.
- Proficiency in mathematical reasoning to solve problems, such as calculating medication dosages and supplies.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
- Physical ability to remain mobile for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks like typing or reaching.
