About the role#
As a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate, you will complete your required US internship hours to build upon your existing pharmacist education. This program is designed to help you develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to practice in a retail pharmacy setting. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to ensure patient safety and effective pharmacy operations. You must complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy work environment.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, counting and measuring drugs, and labeling.
- Resolve third-party rejections and manage inventory to keep stock levels accurate.
- Perform health care services, such as point-of-care testing and immunization preparation.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Greet customers and assist with questions or concerns in-store and at the drive-thru.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating and developing pharmacy support staff.
- Identify business opportunities and adapt to changes in the pharmacy workflow.
- Participate in store operational meetings and maintain a clean, professional department.
What you'll need#
- A Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacist degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- An active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Strong communication, presentation, and active listening skills.
- Proficiency in time management, emotional intelligence, and digital literacy.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including working nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and up to 10 lbs. frequently.
