About the role#
This Graduate Pharmacy Intern role is designed to bridge the gap between your academic training and professional practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation to prepare for a future Pharmacist position. You will work under the direction of a preceptor and District Leader to deepen your understanding of pharmacy operations, patient safety, and quality assurance.
What you'll do#
- Apply didactic learning from pharmacy school to real-world practice.
- Ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly while filling prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Operate pharmacy workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes where permitted.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as putting away deliveries and cycle counts.
- Provide immunizations and other services, including monitoring for and responding to adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the training program.
- Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure.
- 1+ years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
