Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences (KLEs), to gain a deep understanding of pharmacy operations at the store, district, and regional levels. This position focuses on supporting pharmacy teams to deliver safe, accurate, and compassionate patient care.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure smooth, safe, and accurate operations by following company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to build clinical and technical proficiency.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, fielding medical questions, and resolving patient concerns under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures across various workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Perform basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts, processing deliveries, and managing returns-to-stock.
• Support immunization services where permissible by law, including educating patients, monitoring for adverse reactions, and documenting patient information.
• Maintain flexibility to work at your home store or travel to other locations within the market as business needs require.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Possession of, or active pursuit of, valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Strong attention to detail to confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for extended periods, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
• Prior experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting is preferred.
