As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy education to real-world practice in preparation for a Pharmacist role. Under the direction of a preceptor and District Leader, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation. This role focuses on deepening your understanding of patient safety, quality assurance, drug utilization review, and pharmacy operations while supporting the pharmacy team in delivering prompt and accurate care.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Follow standard operating procedures at each workstation to support pharmacists and technicians.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members while sharing best practices.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Maintain pharmacy workflow procedures, including production, pick-up, and drop-off.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts.
- Deliver additional health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
What you'll need#
- Must be a PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe per state guidelines.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Strong communication skills, mathematical reasoning, and the ability to pivot between tasks to meet patient needs.
- Physical ability to remain mobile for extended periods, reach overhead, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.
