Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice to prepare for a future role as a Pharmacist. Working under the direction of a preceptor, you will gain hands-on experience in retail pharmacy operations, including store, district, and regional workflows. This role focuses on professional development through a comprehensive training roadmap that includes Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) and direct collaboration with pharmacy leadership.

What you'll do#

• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on KLEs to build clinical and operational aptitude.
• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure smooth, safe, and accurate operations at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by providing empathetic care, fielding medical questions, and assisting with patient health services.
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies regarding patient privacy and safety.
• Deliver additional patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law and supported by required training.
• Perform inventory management activities, including cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing deliveries.

What you'll need#

• Active enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Possession of valid intern and/or technician licensure.
• Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
• Capacity to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Strong ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods and pivot quickly to meet business needs.
• Proficiency in verbal and written communication, mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations, and problem-solving.
• Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.
