About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice to prepare for a future role as a Pharmacist. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap to gain experience with store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams to deliver safe, accurate, and caring service to patients.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately.
- Follow company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to help manage patient health.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy and providing compassionate care.
- Complete inventory activities as directed by pharmacy leadership, including cycle counts, returns, and stocking deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law and supported by required training.
- Communicate with prescribers to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes as allowed by state regulations.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Ability to become immunization certified to support essential pharmacy functions.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication, mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations, and problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.
