About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide hands-on experience in pharmacy operations while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to gain a broad understanding of store, district, and regional operations.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately and safely.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Demonstrate empathy and genuine care in all customer interactions, including fielding medical questions and providing optimal service.
- Contribute to a high-performing team by embracing a growth mindset and seeking feedback for improvement.
- Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and managing medication deliveries.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding patient privacy and safety.
What you'll need#
- Must be accepted into or actively enrolled in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to prescription dispensing.
- Physical ability to remain mobile for extended periods, reach, bend, and lift up to 20 lbs.
