About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist by providing an overview of store and district operations.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to build clinical and operational aptitude.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately and promptly.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
- Deliver additional patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law and supported by training.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures across all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Complete basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and returns-to-stock.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to concentrate on specific tasks over extended periods.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- A focus on customer service and team orientation, with an active effort to help others in a friendly manner.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as required.
