About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Northwell Health, you work under the direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist. You will handle administrative tasks and assist with clinical pharmacy functions to support inpatient and outpatient care.
What you'll do#
- Prepare medications for inpatient orders and outpatient prescriptions, including typing labels.
- Help Pharmacists prepare and label compounded sterile applications.
- Provide drug information to Physicians, Nurses, Pharmacists, and patients.
- Conduct monthly medication room reviews, inspect stock, and remove outdated or recalled drugs.
- Manage inventory by replenishing floor stock, verifying invoices against shipments, and storing drugs in their proper locations.
- Maintain control records for manufactured items and prepare reports for the Pharmacist.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A current permit to practice as a Pharmacy Intern in New York State.
- 0 to 1 years of relevant experience.
- Specialized certifications as required.
