About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world pharmacy operations. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap that covers store, district, and regional operations. This role is designed to prepare you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by immersing you in daily pharmacy functions and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures for safe, accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and providing caring service.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify information as needed.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns, and stocking medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients on vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
- Seek opportunities to expand your clinical and technical knowledge.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly between duties, and perform accurate math for prescription calculations.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and across different store locations in the market.
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
