About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Lehigh Valley Health Network, you will support our pharmacological services by assisting pharmacists with the distribution of drugs. You will work directly with pharmacy systems to manage patient information and process prescriptions. This role involves maintaining inventory, preparing products, and ensuring all pharmacy operations meet our safety and regulatory standards.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and dispense prescription orders while ensuring all labels are accurate and checked by a pharmacist.
- Compound both sterile and non-sterile products.
- Monitor medication inventory levels, place restock orders, and check for expiration dates.
- Maintain accurate records for controlled substances.
- Assist with the orientation and training of new pharmacy colleagues.
- Communicate drug information requests to the pharmacist.
- Answer phones and assist customers with their needs.
- Prioritize daily tasks to keep the pharmacy organized and efficient.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a pre-pharmacy or pharmacy degree program at an accredited school.
- Strong math skills for weighing, measuring, and counting medications.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Ability to work in a high-volume environment.
- Preferred: Experience with inventory control, knowledge of brand and generic medications, and familiarity with pharmacy automation tools.

- Work Modality: On-site at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg.
- Employment Type: Part-time, rolling term.
- Schedule: Includes weekend and holiday rotations.
