About the role#
Lehigh Valley Health Network is hiring a Pharmacy Intern to support our clinical teams in Allentown, Pennsylvania. This is a full-time, paid position that requires on-site work. The role involves using pharmacy systems to manage patient and drug information while assisting pharmacists with the technical aspects of drug distribution.
What you'll do#
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescription orders.
- Fill medication orders accurately and ensure they are properly labeled and checked.
- Monitor medication inventory levels, place orders to restock, and check for expiration dates.
- Maintain records for controlled substances and manage inventory counts.
- Prioritize daily tasks and coordinate activities with other team members.
- Communicate drug information requests directly to a pharmacist.
- Use pharmacy equipment and assist with the orientation of new colleagues.
- Answer phones and respond to customer needs.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Active enrollment in a pre-pharmacy or pharmacy degree program.
- Good math skills for counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work in a busy environment.
- Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs and perform physical tasks such as standing, sitting, bending, or kneeling.
Location & details#
- Location: Allentown, PA.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Rotating shifts, Monday through Friday from 7am to 7pm, and Saturday through Sunday from 9am to 3pm.
