About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will transition your academic training into real-world pharmacy practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor and district leadership to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. This position requires you to complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation while supporting pharmacy operations and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team with prescription fulfillment and daily operations while following standard operating procedures.
- Deepen your understanding of patient safety, error prevention, quality assurance, and drug utilization review.
- Offer counseling to patients and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Handle telephonic prescriptions and contact prescribers to clarify orders or facilitate medication changes.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to other pharmacy team members.
- Perform inventory tasks such as cycle counts, processing returns, and managing medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients about vaccines, obtain informed consent, and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
