About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy education to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This role focuses on developing your clinical and operational skills while you support the pharmacy team in delivering safe, accurate, and compassionate care. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences, to prepare for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team with prompt, safe, and accurate prescription fulfillment at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Follow all company standard operating procedures to maintain patient safety and privacy.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, fielding medical questions, and providing caring service.
- Support immunizations and other patient health care services, such as point-of-care testing, as allowable by law and supported by required training.
- Maintain pharmacy operations by completing inventory activities, such as cycle counts and returns-to-stock.
- Communicate with prescribers to clarify prescriptions or facilitate changes where permitted by state regulation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention to detail to confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Capacity to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 20 lbs.
