About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice while preparing for a future role as a Pharmacist. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences, to gain hands-on experience in pharmacy operations. This role focuses on supporting the pharmacy team to ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately while delivering compassionate care to patients.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team in daily operations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off workflows.
- Follow all company standard operating procedures to ensure patient health and safety.
- Provide empathetic, personalized service to patients over the phone and in person.
- Support immunizations and other health care services, where allowable by law and supported by required training.
- Maintain pharmacy records, perform inventory activities, and communicate with prescribers regarding prescriptions.
- Participate in coaching and mentoring to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Proficiency in confirming prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for prescription dispensing.
- Ability to remain mobile for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
