About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This role focuses on developing your clinical and operational skills in preparation for a future Pharmacist position. You will gain hands-on experience by completing a comprehensive training roadmap, which includes store, district, and regional operations. This is a part-time, on-site position based in Bloomington, Indiana.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences and activities.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly, safely, and accurately.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy and providing caring service.
- Field medical questions, solicit patient medical history, and offer to counsel patients under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and support immunization services where allowable by law.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures across workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Maintain inventory, including cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and medication deliveries.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern and/or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention and focus, with the ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly to meet business needs.
- A customer service and team-oriented mindset, with the ability to help others in a friendly and professional manner.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including active listening.
- Mathematical reasoning skills for tasks such as calculating dosages and day supplies.
- Ability to perform physical requirements, including standing for extended periods, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
