About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to support daily operations and patient care. The role involves direct interaction with customers and clinical tasks to ensure accurate medication delivery.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling to customers and assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
- Interpret oral and written prescriptions for new fills and refills.
- Dispense the correct medication and bag prescriptions for customer pickup.
- Contact prescribers' offices for authorization and communicate with insurance companies as needed.
- Provide immunizations under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Maintain pharmacy cleanliness and manage inventory by stocking incoming orders.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-volume environment.
- Capacity to manage conflict in a professional and nonconfrontational manner.
- Commitment to maintaining honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
