About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between your academic training and real-world practice. This role is designed to prepare you for a future as a Pharmacist by immersing you in daily pharmacy operations. You will work under the guidance of a preceptor to develop your clinical skills, understand patient safety protocols, and learn the regulatory standards required in a retail pharmacy environment.
What you'll do#
- Apply your pharmacy school education to daily practice under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Assist the pharmacy team with prescription fulfillment, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off workflows.
- Counsel patients and answer medical questions while soliciting necessary medical history.
- Perform inventory management tasks such as cycle counts, medication deliveries, and returns.
- Complete immunization training and administer vaccines where permitted by law and state regulations.
- Communicate with prescribers to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes.
What you'll need#
- A PharmD degree from a U.S. accredited program.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to secure pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, reach, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.
