About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will support the pharmacy team by managing customer interactions, processing prescriptions, and ensuring accurate medication dispensing while maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
What you'll do#
- Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products throughout the store.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of pharmaceutical products to discuss them competently with customers and prescribers.
- Provide drug counseling to customers and assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
- Dispense correct medications and facilitate the filling and refilling of prescriptions.
- Contact prescribers' offices for authorizations and coordinate with insurance companies as needed.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage inventory by stocking incoming orders and returning unused stock to inventory.
- Maintain pharmacy safety by reporting risks, incidents, or illegal activities to management.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current, state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Capacity to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Commitment to acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
