About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work within a retail pharmacy environment to support pharmacists and provide essential care to customers. This role focuses on delivering exceptional service, maintaining pharmacy standards, and gaining hands-on experience in pharmaceutical operations.
What you'll do#
- Welcome customers and answer questions regarding products throughout the store.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of pharmaceutical products to discuss them competently with customers and prescribers.
- Provide drug counseling and assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
- Dispense correct medications and facilitate the filling and refilling of prescriptions.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to resolve authorization or coverage issues.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized department while managing inventory and incoming orders.
- Support customers, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs, with care and professionalism.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Capacity to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Commitment to acting with honesty and integrity regarding all customer and business information.
