About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Kroger, you will work in a retail pharmacy setting to support clinical operations and customer service. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in pharmaceutical care while working under the supervision of licensed pharmacists.
What you'll do#
- Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about pharmacy products and general store items.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of pharmaceutical products to discuss them competently with customers and prescribers.
- Provide drug counseling to customers and assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system and dispense correct medications.
- Facilitate the prescription process by contacting prescribers for authorization and communicating with insurance companies.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused medication to stock.
- Maintain a clean and safe department, reporting any safety risks or incidents to management.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced environment.
- Capacity to manage conflict in a reasonable and nonconfrontational manner.
- Commitment to acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
