About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Kroger, you will gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. This role involves direct patient interaction, clinical support, and operational pharmacy tasks under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. You will work to ensure a welcoming environment for customers while maintaining high standards of accuracy and patient safety.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling to customers and assist with recommendations for over-the-counter medications.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system and dispense medications.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Communicate with prescribers' offices for authorizations and coordinate with insurance companies to resolve billing issues.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused medication to stock.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized department while reporting any safety risks or incidents to management.
- Assist customers with prescription pickups and facilitate transactions.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current, state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-paced environment and manage conflict in a cooperative manner.
- Commitment to acting with honesty and integrity regarding all customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
