About the role#
Seattle Indian Health Board is recruiting Advanced MSW students for our Mental Health Clinical Training Track. This program supports our multidisciplinary treatment teams and focuses on our Indigiknow model. We offer 6 positions for the 2026-2027 academic year. Students gain experience in a clinical setting while working with indigenous values and practices. The program runs from September 14, 2026, through June 3, 2027, with a requirement of 24 hours per week. Participants receive a $10,000 stipend for the academic year.
What you'll do#
- Perform initial behavioral health screenings for medical and dental patients.
- Conduct mental status exams and clinical assessments.
- Provide referrals to internal programs and community partners.
- Manage a small caseload of 5 to 8 clients for mental health treatment.
- Provide case management services, including resource connection and paperwork assistance.
- Follow up with individuals who have not attended scheduled appointments.
- Serve in rotation as Counselor of the Day and Case Manager of the Day.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an Advanced MSW student in the Clinical Track.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Proof of current vaccination against COVID-19 and influenza.
