About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic training to real-world practice while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide hands-on experience in pharmacy operations. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams to deliver safe, accurate, and prompt patient care while developing professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences and activities.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations and prompt prescription fulfillment.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations for safe and accurate prescription filling.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, genuine care, and effective communication.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles.
- Support patient health services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law and supported by training.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory activities, including cycle counts and medication deliveries.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it as required.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Regular and predictable attendance, with the ability to work nights and weekends.
- Strong attention to detail to confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
- Ability to pivot between tasks and maintain focus in a busy environment.
