About the role#
As an International Pharmacy Intern, you will complete your required US internship hours to build upon your existing pharmacist education. This role is designed for foreign pharmacy graduates to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to pass required licensure exams. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to provide patient care and maintain a safe, effective retail pharmacy environment. Please note that you are required to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure within 120 days of completing your hours.
What you'll do#
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, counting, labeling, and resolving third-party rejections.
- Greet customers, assist with questions, and perform register transactions while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating and developing support staff.
- Manage pharmacy inventory according to company policies.
- Deliver health care services as permitted, including point-of-care testing and immunizations.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Coordinate and implement training for pharmacy support staff.
What you'll need#
- A degree from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- An active Pharmacy Intern license in the state where the district is located.
- Strong communication, active listening, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently.
- Proficiency in skills such as emotional intelligence, time management, and conflict resolution.
- Digital literacy, with Microsoft Office Suite proficiency preferred.
- Eligibility to immunize is preferred.
