About the role#
As an International Pharmacy Intern, you will complete your required US internship hours while applying your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. This role is designed to prepare you for a future Pharmacist position through a mixed modality learning plan. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to develop your clinical knowledge, business acumen, and leadership skills. You are expected to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team in daily operations to ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care when solving problems or fielding medical questions under supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts and returns to stock.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, upon completing Technician Immunizer status training.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions, reporting events as required.
- Travel to stores within the market to work shifts as needed.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
