About the role#
As a foreign-trained pharmacist, you will complete your required US internship hours within a retail pharmacy environment. This program prepares you for pharmacist licensure while you gain experience in patient care, practice management, and leadership. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to ensure safe and effective pharmacy operations. You are expected to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain state pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Complete required US internship hours and participate in a mixed-modality learning plan.
- Process prescriptions, including translation of SIG codes, labeling, and resolving third-party rejections.
- Manage inventory and pharmacy workflow, excluding final prescription verification.
- Adopt and manage patient care programs while maintaining HIPAA and regulatory compliance.
- Greet customers, assist with questions, and perform register transactions.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating staff and identifying business growth opportunities.
- Lead with empathy and compassion for patients and colleagues.
- Provide immunizations once state regulations are met.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL.
- Active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally.
- Eligibility to immunize is preferred.
