About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice while preparing for a future role as a pharmacist. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience with pharmacy operations at the store, district, and regional levels. This role focuses on developing your clinical and technical skills while ensuring the safe and accurate delivery of patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations and accurate prescription fulfillment at various workstations.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the direction of a licensed pharmacist.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy and genuine care.
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Support immunization services where permissible, including patient education and documentation.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory and assist with administrative tasks as directed by leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong customer service orientation and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and mathematical reasoning abilities.
- Physical ability to remain mobile for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
