Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply didactic learning from your pharmacy education into real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide hands-on experience with pharmacy operations. This role focuses on developing your clinical and technical skills in preparation for a future Pharmacist position.

What you'll do#

• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including key learning experiences and activities.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations such as production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
• Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit information on medical history under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles.
• Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations, where allowable by law and supported by required training.
• Assist with basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and managing medication deliveries.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Possession of, or in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Strong attention and focus, with the ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
• Proficiency in mathematical reasoning to solve problems, such as calculating dosages and day supplies.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 20 lbs.
