About the role#
As an International Pharmacy Intern, you will complete your required US internship hours to prepare for a career as a Pharmacist. This program is designed for graduates from non-US accredited pharmacy schools who have passed the FPGEE and TOEFL exams. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to develop your clinical knowledge, business acumen, and leadership skills. This role requires the completion of internship hours within 18 months and obtaining pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing those hours.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off, to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Provide caring service and show empathy to contribute to positive patient experiences.
- Support immunizations under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, including patient education and documentation, once you obtain the necessary certifications.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding patient safety and privacy.
- Handle telephonic prescriptions and clarify information with prescribers where permitted by state regulation.
- Complete inventory tasks such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- Ability to complete all required training and internship hours within the designated timeframes.
- A strong customer service orientation and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Capacity to perform physical tasks, including standing for extended periods, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
