About the role#
This position offers nursing students the chance to gain hands-on clinical experience before graduation. You will work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse to practice skills and participate in patient care. The goal of this program is to prepare you to transition into a new graduate RN role on the same unit after you earn your license. You will work a minimum of 12 hours per month and no more than 20 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Assess patients and collect data in an EMR under supervision.
- Administer medications and manage parenteral fluids, blood products, or IV flushes.
- Adjust IV pump rates or devices.
- Initiate, titrate, and discontinue oxygen.
- Participate in patient care planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Practice clinical skills verified by your nursing program's didactic instruction and skill checklist.
- Spend time with the clinical case manager and observe medical procedures.
- Identify and report significant patient observations to an RN.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to support patient care.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited nursing program, with graduation expected within one year of hire.
- Ability to graduate on your initial anticipated date.
- Current BLS certification.
- Ability to pass Nursing State Boards within 90 days of graduation, or within an additional 60 days if a second attempt is required.
