About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) and activities designed to prepare you for a future Pharmacist role. This position involves gaining an overview of store, district, and regional operations while supporting the pharmacy team to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow all company standard operating procedures at each workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, care, and effective communication.
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and participate in activities to build clinical and technical aptitude.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and professional standards.
- Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and managing medication deliveries.
- Support immunization services where permissible by law, including educating patients and documenting information.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention and focus, with the ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to solve problems.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.
