About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice to prepare for a future role as a Pharmacist. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap that includes Key Learning Experiences (KLEs), activities, and time spent with district leadership. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy operations, ensuring patient safety, and gaining an overview of store, district, and regional operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at each workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care, including solving or escalating patient problems.
- Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and professional standards.
- Perform tasks such as taking telephonic prescriptions, clarifying prescriptions with prescribers, and completing basic inventory activities.
- Support immunization services where allowable by law, including educating patients and documenting information.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention and focus, with the ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication, mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations, and problem resolution.
- Ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive finger movements.
