About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy operations, developing clinical skills, and preparing for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences, to gain an overview of store, district, and regional operations while contributing to a safe and inclusive patient care environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly, including prescription fulfillment at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, providing caring service, and solving patient problems.
- Maintain safety and compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company standard operating procedures.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns-to-stock.
- Support immunization services by educating patients, documenting information, and administering vaccines where permitted by law and training.
- Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare providers to clarify prescriptions and facilitate medication changes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it as required by the state.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Flexibility to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Ability to work a part-time schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel to other store locations within the market as needed.
