About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice under the guidance of a preceptor. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy operations, ensuring patient safety, and gaining exposure to store, district, and regional workflows. You will participate in a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences, to prepare for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly, including prescription fulfillment at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by providing empathetic care, fielding medical questions, and offering immunizations where permitted.
- Maintain safety and compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company standard operating procedures.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns as directed by pharmacy leadership.
- Communicate effectively with patients and prescribers to clarify prescriptions and facilitate medication changes within regulatory limits.
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development, including the potential to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Flexibility to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing for extended periods, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
