About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice to prepare for a Pharmacist role. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide a first-hand look at pharmacy operations at the store, district, and regional levels. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams to deliver safe, accurate, and caring service while you develop your professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences and activities.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly, including prescription fulfillment at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, offering immunizations, and solving patient problems.
- Operate as part of the pharmacy team by following Standard Operating Procedures, best practices, and effective communication.
- Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and managing medication deliveries.
- Support immunization services by educating patients, monitoring for adverse reactions, and documenting patient information where permitted by law.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding patient safety and privacy.
What you'll need#
- Must be accepted into or actively enrolled in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Must possess or be in the process of obtaining valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to help people in a friendly manner.
- Ability to pivot between tasks, maintain attention to detail for prescription accuracy, and use mathematical reasoning for medication dispensing.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including active listening.
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods, and lift up to 20 lbs.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Columbia, Illinois.
- This is a part-time, on-site role.
- The position is paid with a pay range of $20.00 to $23.75 per hour.
