Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice while preparing for a future role as a Pharmacist. Working under the direction of a preceptor, you will gain hands-on experience through a comprehensive training roadmap that covers store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams to ensure safe, accurate, and prompt prescription fulfillment while developing your professional skills.

What you'll do#

• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences and activities.
• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly, including workflow at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, addressing patient needs, and providing caring service.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and relevant laws to ensure patient safety, privacy, and secure recordkeeping.
• Perform clinical and operational tasks, such as fielding medical questions, taking telephonic prescriptions, and managing inventory, as permitted by law.
• Support patient health services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable and supported by required training.
• Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions, reporting events according to public health requirements.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Strong customer service orientation with a friendly, helpful approach.
• Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot between responsibilities, and perform mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including active listening.
• Ability to remain mobile for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
