About the role#
This position offers nursing students the opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience at Banner University Medical Center in Tucson. You will work on the 28-bed Medical-Surgical 7W unit under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. The goal is to build your clinical skills and prepare you to transition into a New Grad RN role on the same unit after graduation and licensure.
What you'll do#
- Assess patients and perform basic data collection in an electronic medical record.
- Administer medications, parenteral fluids, blood products, and IV flushes.
- Adjust IV pump rates or devices.
- Initiate, titrate, and discontinue oxygen.
- Perform clinical skills for which you have received didactic and clinical instruction and have a documented skill checklist.
- Participate in patient care planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Observe procedures and spend time with the clinical case manager.
- Identify and report significant observations to your supervising nurse.
- Collaborate with other disciplines regarding patient care.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program.
- Expected graduation within one year of hire date.
- Ability to graduate on your initial anticipated graduation date.
- Current BLS certification.
- Ability to pass Nursing State Boards within 90 days of graduation (or within 60 days of a second attempt if required).

- Location: Tucson, Arizona.
- Schedule: Part-time, minimum of 12 hours per month, not to exceed 20 hours per week.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: This is a paid position.
