About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience in pharmacy operations and patient care. This role focuses on supporting the pharmacy team to ensure safe, accurate, and prompt prescription fulfillment while developing your clinical and technical skills.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations and safe prescription filling.
- Follow company standard operating procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Demonstrate empathy and care in all patient interactions, whether in person or over the phone.
- Maintain inventory accuracy by putting away deliveries and conducting cycle counts.
- Complete a training roadmap focused on key learning experiences to build professional aptitude.
- Provide support for patient health services, such as immunizations, where allowable by law and supported by training.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or active progress toward obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks for extended periods and pivot quickly between responsibilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and colleagues.
- Proficiency in using math to solve pharmacy-related problems, such as calculating dosages or days' supply.
