About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice while preparing for a future role as a Pharmacist. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide hands-on experience in pharmacy operations. You will support the pharmacy team in ensuring that prescriptions are filled accurately and safely while developing your professional skills through Key Learning Experiences (KLEs).
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs).
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure smooth pharmacy operations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off workflows.
- Demonstrate empathy and genuine care in all customer interactions, including fielding medical questions and resolving patient concerns.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and relevant laws to ensure patient safety, privacy, and accurate recordkeeping.
- Deliver additional patient health care services, such as immunizations, if allowable by law and supported by required training.
- Perform inventory activities, such as cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and processing medication deliveries.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or active pursuit of, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Proficiency in using math to solve problems, such as determining medication dosages.
- Ability to maintain focus, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 20 pounds.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients and colleagues.
