About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy school education into real-world practice to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences, to gain an overview of store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams to deliver safe, accurate, and compassionate patient care.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team in ensuring pharmacy operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures at every workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Demonstrate empathy and genuine care during all patient interactions, including solving or escalating patient problems.
- Educate patients on vaccines and, upon obtaining Technician Immunizer status, support immunization services.
- Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and managing medication deliveries.
- Contribute to a high-performing team by embracing a growth mindset and remaining receptive to feedback.
- Maintain flexibility to work shifts at your home store and other locations within the market as business needs require.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to meet physical demands including standing for extended periods, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
