About the role#
This Pharmacy Intern position offers an opportunity to apply didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. This role is designed to prepare you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by integrating you into the pharmacy team.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly, including safe and accurate prescription fulfillment at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences.
- Demonstrate empathy and genuine care in all patient interactions, including fielding medical questions and providing counseling under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Operate according to Standard Operating Procedures at each workstation to maintain safety and efficiency.
- Contribute to a high-performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and remain receptive to feedback.
- Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and managing medication deliveries.
- Support immunization services by educating patients, documenting information, and administering vaccines once Technician Immunizer status is obtained.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to remain mobile for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Strong communication, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
