Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by immersing you in pharmacy workflows and patient care.

What you'll do#

• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including key learning experiences and activities.
• Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations to ensure prescriptions are filled accurately and promptly.
• Follow standard operating procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, solving problems, and providing caring service.
• Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinic support where permitted by law.
• Maintain inventory, including cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
• Communicate with prescribers to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes as allowed by regulation.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Strong attention and focus to maintain accuracy over time.
• Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations.
• Physical ability to remain mobile for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
