About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy education to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This role focuses on developing clinical and operational skills in preparation for a future career as a Pharmacist. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences and activities designed to provide an overview of pharmacy operations at the store, district, and regional levels.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap to build aptitude in pharmacy operations.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
- Follow standard operating procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, solving problems, and providing caring service.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law and supported by training.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through tasks such as cycle counts and returns-to-stock.
- Educate patients on health services and refer medical questions to the pharmacist on duty.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or active progress toward, a valid intern or technician license.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong focus and attention to detail to maintain accuracy over time.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and a customer-service orientation.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
