About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy education to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This role is designed to prepare you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by immersing you in pharmacy operations, including store, district, and regional workflows. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap to build clinical and technical aptitude while supporting the pharmacy team in delivering safe, accurate, and compassionate patient care.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure that pharmacy operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly and safely.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care during interactions at the register, drive-thru, or over the phone.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details as permitted by state regulation.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as processing medication deliveries, cycle counts, and returns, as directed by pharmacy leadership.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law and supported by required training.
- Follow standard operating procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, and drop-off.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
