About the role#
This Pharmacy Intern position offers a chance to apply didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will prepare for future responsibilities as a pharmacist while supporting the daily needs of the pharmacy team.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations like production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care.
- Field medical questions and solicit patient medical history under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Complete basic inventory activities as directed, such as putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts.
- Educate patients about vaccines and support immunization services where permitted by law.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market as needed.
- Willingness to become immunization certified.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
