Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice under the guidance of a preceptor. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience across pharmacy operations, helping you prepare for the responsibilities of a future pharmacist. You will work through a training roadmap that includes key learning experiences and direct interaction with store and district leadership.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
• Follow established pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, care, and professional communication.
• Field medical questions and collect patient medical history under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Complete basic inventory activities, such as processing medication deliveries, cycle counts, and returns, as directed by pharmacy leadership.
• Support immunization services by educating patients and, where permitted by law and training, preparing and administering vaccines.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE-accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
• At least 1 year of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
• Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market as needed.
• Commitment to becoming immunization certified.
• Academic background in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing, Public Health, Health Administration, or Biomedical Sciences.
