About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy education into real-world practice to prepare for a future career as a Pharmacist. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap that provides hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on developing your clinical and technical skills while ensuring pharmacy operations run smoothly and safely.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Demonstrate empathy and genuine care in all customer and colleague interactions to create positive patient experiences.
- Deliver additional patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law and supported by training.
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap that includes key learning experiences and activities.
- Communicate with prescribers to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes as permitted by state regulation.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory through activities like cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing deliveries.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Ability to maintain focus and concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends as required by business needs.
