About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) and activities designed to provide an overview of pharmacy operations. This role focuses on developing your skills in preparation for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including KLEs and assigned activities.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at each workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, genuine care, and effective communication.
- Deliver additional patient health care services, such as immunizations or point-of-care testing, where allowable by law and supported by required training.
- Maintain inventory, including putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Proficiency in using math to solve problems, such as calculating medication dosages.
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods, with the ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
