About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy school learning into real-world practice to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. Under the direction of a preceptor and District Leader, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation. This role focuses on deepening your understanding of patient safety, quality assurance, drug utilization review, and pharmacy professional standards. You will operate as part of the pharmacy team by consistently applying Standard Operating Procedures and best practices.
What you'll do#
- Support smooth pharmacy operations to ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Demonstrate empathy and genuine care to contribute to a safe and inclusive culture.
- Take on increasing accountability for pharmacy management, oversight, and operations as your tenure and readiness grow.
- Follow workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Assist patients by offering counseling, fielding medical questions, and soliciting medical history information under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Maintain inventory, including putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members while sharing best practices.
- Deliver additional health services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing where permitted by law.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the program.
- Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in mathematical reasoning for tasks such as calculating dosages and day supplies.
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods, and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on active listening.
