About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy education into real-world practice while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. You will work as part of a pharmacy team to ensure prescriptions are filled safely and accurately while delivering caring service to patients.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly.
- Support the safety and effectiveness of pharmacy operations by following standard operating procedures.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care during interactions.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns-to-stock.
- Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
- Support immunization services by educating patients, reviewing information, and documenting records, where permitted by law and training.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or active progress toward obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to perform mathematical calculations for prescription dispensing.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach, bend, and lift up to 20 lbs.
