About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap that covers pharmacy operations and patient care. This role is designed to help you prepare for future responsibilities as a pharmacist while gaining experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
What you'll do#
- Support the pharmacy team to ensure operations run safely, accurately, and efficiently.
- Follow standard operating procedures at workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service to patients by showing empathy and addressing their questions or concerns.
- Complete basic inventory tasks such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and managing returns.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles regarding pharmacy practice.
- Assist with immunizations and patient health services where permitted by law and supported by training.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Capability to maintain focus on tasks and pivot quickly to meet patient and business needs.
- Ability to work a part-time schedule that may include nights and weekends.
