About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic learning and pharmacy practice into a real-world setting to prepare for a Pharmacist role. Under the direction of your preceptor and District Leader, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation. This role focuses on deepening your understanding of patient safety, quality assurance, drug utilization review, and pharmacy professional standards.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Demonstrate empathy and genuine care to contribute to a safe and inclusive culture where all people feel valued.
- Create personalized experiences for patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Follow company standard operating procedures at each workstation to support pharmacists and technicians.
- Offer counseling, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes where allowed by state regulation.
- Complete inventory activities such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Deliver additional health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the training program.
- Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication, mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations, and problem resolution.
- Physical ability to remain mobile for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
