About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience in store and district operations. This role focuses on supporting the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations and providing caring service to patients.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations and safe, accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, addressing patient needs, and offering services such as immunizations.
- Complete inventory activities, such as putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, and returns-to-stock.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles to ensure patient safety and privacy.
- Maintain flexibility to meet business needs, including potentially traveling to other store locations within the market.
What you'll need#
- Current acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it as required.
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business demands.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for extended periods, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
